Georgia quail
hunting in an extraordinary setting
Located in the heart
of plantation country, Rio Piedra’s rolling
terrain remains unchanged since the introduction
of
quail hunting more than a century ago. The
untamed Flint River, for which Rio Piedra was
named, runs through it, offering our guests
unsurpassed vistas and Georgia quail hunting
opportunities on both sides of the water.
Southern hospitality awaits in quail hunting
country
Quail hunting
at it's best
This is Georgia
wingshooting as it once was, when sportsmen by
day matched wits with wild birds in their
native environment ... and by night enjoyed
fine dining, gracious service and luxurious
surroundings. Plantation-style, challenging
quail hunting remains alive, at Rio Piedra.

Quail hunting that is incomparable
The
Georgia quail
hunting
at Rio Piedra Plantation is an experience
like no other. Our birds - canny, quick and
woods-wise bobwhite quail - lurk in unspoiled pine
savannahs, amid rolling hardwood uplands, and
within fields, meadows and understories of broom
sedge and wiregrass. Expert, quail hunting guides
will lead you to their haunts. There, you’ll
experience the joy of seeing coveys flush
explosively and fly strongly as a result of
old-fashioned, precisely executed dog work.
A quail hunting experience planned
just for you
We customize your quail hunting experience to the
individual hunting party.
The hunts can range from one to five days. With over
twenty quail hunting areas, extended visits provide the
opportunity to experience a variety of terrains. We are
located in prime Georgia quail hunting country, a
stretch of rare, pristine pine savannah within the Flint
River basin in deep south Georgia. Specially equipped
jeeps transport hunters, dogs and guides into stands of
towering longleaf pines, shady river bottoms, meadows of
broom sedge, uplands of mixed pine and hardwood, rolling
hills, fields of wiregrass, all havens of the Prince of
Gamebirds. The spectacular scenery beckons hunters to
proceed on foot, following in the tracks of the first
sportsmen to experience the joy and challenge of
plantation style Georgia wingshooting. Morning hunts
begin after breakfast and conclude at lunch. Afternoon
hunts run from 2 to 5 p.m.
